A Placement at United Biscuits provides an excellent opportunity for those currently studying, or who have recently completed a degree to gain some real life work experience.  At UB we offer two types of placement opportunities:

  • Summer Placements - These range from 8-12 weeks in duration.
  • 12 month Industrial Placements.

Sales Intern

Once we've made our fantastic products, we want our consumers to enjoy them. That’s where our leading edge sales teams come in. Getting our brands in front of the consumers, on the right shelves and with the right promotions can be a complicated process. Our customers range from the major multinationals such as Wal Mart, Tesco and Carrefour, to the smallest local shops. Our Sales Team are responsible for persuading our customers to give our brands the best positions, take part in promotions and try new product launches. United Biscuits relationship with its customers is therefore pivotal to ensuring that our consumers are able to buy our great products whenever and wherever they want to, and it’s the UB sales team that make it all happen.

UB is looking for 3 driven and enthusiastic individuals to join us on 12 month placements in our Sales department to support us with some upcoming project work.

As a sales intern you may be involved in the following –

- Field Sales: UB contact for ‘Feet Through Door’ project working alongside the agency to manage communication and information flow to this team and supporting Shopper Marketing within the channel.
- Account Penetration: Work with customer account teams; build effective relationships with their Telesales Teams to drive sales and awareness of UB.
- Promotional Planning: Design and implement a process that will effectively manage and track promotions through working with Business Account Managers (BAMs) to establish a best practice, consistent process.
- 'Eat Now' Project: execution of merchandising through field sales visits. Develop customer relationships and gain insights to share back with UB in order to drive more orders and sales.
- Competitor Intelligence; analysis of promotions, range and price of UB and competitor products and the quality of promotion execution vs customer agreements. This will provide the opportunity to go out to store on a weekly basis.

During your time at UB, we will ensure you get the most out of your Internship through ensuring you hold a role with real responsibility and accountability. Furthermore, depending on the specific role you are assigned you may get the opportunity to attend Field Sales Training, Trade Shows, Our Annual Sales Conference and shadowing Senior Account Managers.

In terms of what we are looking for, our ideal Placement students will need to meet the following criteria:

- Sandwich year student, preferably in a Business related degree course, or an individual with a keen interest in Sales & Marketing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Good at building relationships;
- Effective communication skills
- Strong team player
- Good analytical skills; confident in dealing with numbers
- Enthusiastic individual who is passionate about our Brands
